Real Madrid Football News: 6 things we learned from 20/21 Season

 

Before starting, these main questions can be asked:

• Should we buy any new players in the coming transfer market? If yes, who?
• Who should be promoted to the starting line-up for the coming season?
• Who should be in the reserves?
• Did we make the correct decisions in the 20/21 season?
• Did we sell the right players in the last transfer window?
• Who should retire from Real Madrid?
• Which player should be given a fair chance?

What can Real Madrid do now to improve the performance?

So, keeping all these questions in mind, let us start by answering this one by one.

1. Did we make the correct decisions in the 20/21 season?

As we are quite familiar with the start of our season, we were struggling both with La Liga and the champions league. It was even a doubt for us to pass through the group stages. There were questions on Zidane being sacked. But we emerged and fought to finish at the top of the group stage. There were certain decisions taken by Real Madrid in terms of transfers and formation. According to me, the first mistake Real Madrid made was to sell the only reserve left and right backs who were actually performing and trying to reach their peaks. Yes, I am talking about Achraf Hakimi and Sergio Reguilon. Real Madrid was quite aware of the poor performance of Marcelo and Carvajal being prone to injuries. The only options they had were Mendy and Carvajal. Odrizola wasn't given a fair chance for his position and he hadn't proved anything to the club. So, selling these two players was a big mistake that Real Madrid would have realized during the season. Due to a lot of injuries in the defense, Zidane was forced to change his tactics and play other players in the defense who actually had different positions. Lucas Vasques was playing as a right-back for most of the season. Even Nacho and Valverde were forced to play on these positions, thus resulting in dropping crucial points in la Liga and getting knocked out of other competitions.

       2. Did we sell the right players in the last transfer window?

In my opinion, we didn't. We shouldn't have sold Sergio Reguilon and Achraf Hakimi. They were the key players for Real Madrid's Full back Issues. Some players were also sent on loan to other clubs for them to get more playing time. Kubo was sent to Getafe, Bale to Spurs, Cabellos to Arsenal, Odegaard to Arsenal, Renier to Dortmund, and so on. Some players got what they wanted and they are doing their part for their new clubs. It was right for us to sell James to Everton. According to my opinion, James is a world-class player but he had lost his touch that Real Madrid needed. So, selling him at the right time saved his career and gave Real Madrid some funds to help improve their squad.

      3. Who should retire from Real Madrid?

Talking about reality and what will help to improve Real Madrid's Squad in the future, I am giving my opinions on it. At first, Modric needs to play one more season and guide/train Balanco and Odegaard on how to be a top player and utilize their talent. Then Modric should retire at the end of the 21/22 Season. Ramos's Contract is still in doubt and he should probably retire this season. Talking about Marcelo, he has not performed up to the expectations of the Real Madrid board, thus allowing Mendy to fill his shoes. We cannot debate how good Marcelo's career is. He is an exceptional player and has won a lot of silverware during his spell at Madrid. But, it's his time to take a new challenge and let others fill his shoes. He should retire at the end of this season and leave the club happily.

      4. Who should we sell in the next transfer window?

We need to generate revenue in order to strengthen our team and compete with others in the future. So it's high time to sell these players: Isco, Mariano, Caballos, Varane, and Bale. Hazard is an outstanding player but he hasn't proved himself yet. If we get a fair offer for him, I think we should sell him. 

     5. Which players should be given a fair chance?

 We have a lot of young talent and they need to be utilized properly. Jovic, Odegaard, and Kubo need a proper chance. They should be called back from loan at the end of this season. Miguel and Blanco should be promoted from Castilla to the first team. Odrizola needs a fair chance to prove himself at right-back.

    6. Which players should we buy this season?

We have to solve our problems about goals. We can't only rely on Benzema for that. Someone needs to step up. So the only targets for us should be the goal scorers of this transfer. We have two best options and everyone is familiar with them: Mbappe and Halland. Both these players have been amazing and have an urge to play for Real Madrid.
