Aguero played his last league game for Manchester City on 23rd May 2021.
On 64 minutes, the Etihad Stadium erupted in applause when Sergio Agüero, Manchester City's all-time leading scorer, made his 389th and undoubtedly the last appearance in the club's colors. Pep Guardiola had sent the adoring crowd just what they wanted: a last glimpse of a 258-goal genius to round off this Premier League title-celebration extravaganza in which City had cruised thanks to goals from Kevin de Bruyne, Phil Foden, and Gabriel Jesus.
Sergio Aguero also broke Wayne Rooney's record of most goals scored for a single EPL club with 184 goals. A perfect farewell for a legend who deserved it.
The 10,000 returning fans were hoping for a 259th strike, which Agüero delivered. The No 10 first surprised Mason Holgate with a tremble that sent the Everton defender into a separate borough, then he gave Jordan Pickford in goal no chance with the outside of his deadly right foot.
When his 260th goal arrived five minutes later, what had always been a spectacular finish became an almost unbelievable fairytale. It was his 184th Premier League goal for them, moving him ahead of Manchester United's Wayne Rooney for most in the league for a single club – a masterpiece of a header, soaring high and pounding the ball into Pickford's left.
Agüero had other chances to score a hat-trick, including a header, but it wasn't a day for it. However, on the day City paraded the championship trophy ahead of Saturday's Champions League final against Chelsea, it turned out to be a magical appearance for him and the fans.
Guardiola's side will start as absolute favorites in Porto after Chelsea lost to Aston Villa but they still managed to secure a top-four spot allowing them to play in next season's Champions League. The way Guardiola mixed his team in this game was noteworthy: it was partly an experiment in holding his first-choice players in shape and partly an audition for those who could push their way into Saturday's action. Manchester City is ready to get in action in the champions league final and is motivated enough to give their best.
Pep Guardiola was heartbroken when he paid tribute to Sergio Agüero after the striker's 389th and final domestic appearance for Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. In City's 5-0 victory over Everton, Agüero scored twice as a substitute, and an emotional Guardiola was left wiping his tears after an interview in which he even used the f-word, prompting Sky Sports to ask for an apology.
The city's manager said of Agüero, "We love him so much." “He's a unique person. He's a wonderful person. He was really helpful to me... We'll never be able to replace him. Many players in this club have contributed to our success, including Joe Hart and David Silva. His legacy has been passed on to us. In 30 minutes, he demonstrated his worth.”
According to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, Sergio Aguero is close to joining Barcelona next season.
After scoring 260 goals in 389 games for the team, Aguero, 32, will leave Etihad Stadium as his contract expires this summer. As the new Premier League champions finished their domestic season with a thrashing of Everton, Aguero marked his last appearance at Etihad Stadium with two goals. With his latest contract expiring next month, the Argentinian international announced at the start of 2021 that he will not be agreeing to a new contract at the Etihad Stadium, putting an end to a glittering career in English football. Barcelona has been heavily linked with a free agent offer for him, and according to Mundo Deportivo, a contract is in progress and set to be completed after the final.
Aguero will play in a high-stakes final game for Pep Guardiola's side against Premier League rivals Chelsea in an attempt to win the Champions League for the first time. According to reports, the 32-year-old will complete the transfer after the final before joining Argentina for their 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia, followed by the Copa America tournament this summer.

We would love to see how Sergio Aguero will line up with Barcelona next season and it's gonna be quite interesting as he will return to La Liga after his recent spell as an Atletico player. With the two Argentinians reuniting as Barcelona players Messi and Aguero will create problems for their opponents next season.
